My mate has 4GB of RAM in his machine, and even when running a couple of intensive games and photoshop, he can't get over 3.5GB. I have 3GB in my current latop and in a desktop I'm going to build in the near future I intend to fit eith 6G or 8GB in. Mostly because it's cheap but also I will as I am now, run a few virtual machines. I have ran a virtual domain environment quite easily on 3GB of RAM so any more will still be used, but I certainly don't need it at this moment in time.
