AMD announced today that nine years after it launched the world’s first 1 GHz CPU, it is releasing a factory overclocked graphics processor that is the first to break the 1 GHz barrier using standard air-cooling solutions. As a result, ATI, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AMD, has become the first graphics company to break the 1 GHz barrier.
