Re: I have a C2D E6600 which says 2.4 Mhz Its because of Speedstep and C1E these are settings in the BIOS that automatically change the multiplier of your cpu.
Its to save energy and reduce heat in your pc. For instance when your not doing anything on your pc the multiplier used will be 6. So your fsb x6 = cpu frequency
For that cpu it would be 266 x6 = 1596
When you play a game it would use the x9 multiplier or when you open a folder it may use the x7 or x8 multiplier
To have a constent x9 multiplier just go into the BIOS and disable Speedstep and C1E under your cpu settings. |
