It is a advertising Browser Helper Object. It consists of an add-on to Internet explorer that tracks the text users put into a search field.
The BHO hijacks a user's homepage temporarily, changing it to MyWebSearch.com, a portal page that hosts the search field. Though this can be changed back, it still constitutes an aggressive advertising practice.
