Vista 64 Drops HP Photosmart 3310 Printer

I recently purchased a Dell Studio 1537 laptop running Vista 64 Home Preimum. I have an HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One printer hardwired to a Belkin N1 router. I have several computers printing wirelessly to the HP printer. One, a laptop running XP-sp3 and a desktop running XP-sp3. The XP computers print without a problem. However, the Vista-64 laptop will print for a day or so, then drop the printer. When you look at the printers installed, you will not find the HP printer.

When I try to reinstall the HP vista-64 drivers for the printer, it asks if I want to uninstall the printer or add a new device. So it recognizes its own drivers as being installed. I use the Add new device to add the printer. I print a test page and it works as expected. I go about my business and a day or so later, the printer is gone--dropped by Vista-64 I assume. I have to repeat the process to print.

I have gone through the drill of uninstalling the print drivers, rebooting the PC and installing the printer fresh. The result is the same--print for a day or so, then no printer.

Dell's on-line support pointed the finger at HP and offered to transfer the call to their pay-as-you-go support.

I can't believe that I am the only person having this problem. I suspect that it is a Vista-64 issue, but don't know how to resolve it.

HELP?????

Thanks,
