Re: Window Messenger icon closes before bootup of modem complete??

Roger P,
Check the HP Printer's applications, and see if there is an setting to check
for updates for the software at Vista start-up. If there is, consider
unchecking those settings, and manually check for HP Printers software
updates.

Another thing is to check what programs start up at boot-up. The HP Printer
updates may have added a program, that was not there before. That now is
booting up before the DSL connection, and is causing the problem you are
experiencing.

Start Button> RUN> Type: msconfig> Start-up tab> Check what programs you
don't need to start up right away. Then go to those programs first under
options or preferences, and turn of setting to start at bootup, or check for
updates at bootup. If there is no such option, you can retry under MSCONFIG,
to uncheck one program at a time. Reboot, and see if the DSL connection
starts when it is supposed to.

Hi,

I recently d\l some updates for my HP printers and now when computer
boots up, the dsl modem takes longer to bootup and as a result the
windows messenger icon closes with a red X, before modem boots up..

Something has caused the modem to take more time.

I ran a disk defragmenter, which was not necessary.

I am running Windows Vista.

I can click on messenger icon and sign in manually, but why is it
closing before modem boots up?

Has anybody any ideas how to fix this problem ?

Thanks.

Roger P
