from all that i have heard, "nobody can really tell the difference between 1066mhz and 800mhz." whether that is true or not, i'll never know as i have never been able to get mine to run at 1066 anyway. i have corsair memory in mine and when i went to the corsair forums, the moderator stated that in a motherboard with 4 slots and all populated with 2 gig modules (8gigs total), you will
have to run the ram at 800mhz--at least. all i know is with my board, i was never able to get my system to run with any stability using ram settings at 1066 & epp--even with 2 or 4 gigs. with 8 gigs running at 800mhz it is very stable.
when i did try to set the system to 1066 and epp, one of two things would happen: it would bsod during start up, or it would start and two to three minutes after logging in, it would bsod.
also, i just looked at the system specs for AstaLaVista and the ram that's listed is Dominator PC2-8500C5D--mine is the PC2-8500C5. i bring this up because AstaLaVista even stated that the ram wouldn't get to 1066 either. try setting yours to 800mhz as a start and see if you can start up.
