well it sounds like you've certainly done something to the PCB, or scrambled the video driver..... lets hope the latter is the case.

even though you've done this before there's a real chance of actually spitting on it & then it shorts when replaced..
there's obviously no other means for you to test the card elsewhere..?? another machine maybe..??
do you get the post screen..?? can you enter ''safe mode'' at all, if so load to desktop this way, firstly check the device manager lists the card then try to reinstall the driver....
if you cant do that all that's left to do is reseat the card again, if its not GPU driver related, then its gotta be the H/W..
you never know, this may be gods way of telling you the X1800 is nearly as old as he is, & he wants you to upgrade....lol
