Can someone please help me b4 I scream ?

I purchased a Linksys CIT400 cordless Skype phone (stand alone type) and needed a router to run it as a sometimes pc free phone.
I then purchased a Linksys WRTP54G wireless G router for the purpose of the very expensive phone.

I have not even got to the point of setting up the phone as I have had endless problems / issues trying to get the router to work !!
After searching the net I came to a stop here at these forums and have tried what has been suggested already but to no avail.

When I connect I am continuously getting the "unidentified network" messages.

I have worked around the clock on this , I am totally exhausted , and as the Vaio is a fairly new and expensive item I wont be throwing it out the window just yet .

Can anyone offer any assistance or even tell me if you have similar working setups what Router I should be using please ?????

please help I would really appreciate it .
