Does it occur in both modes(siging in to Windows Live with your Live ID and not signing in) ?
If the former, is the account accessible at account.live.com and if a hotmail type account Live ID(hotmail.com, live.com msn.com)
is it accessible at mail.live.com ?
Is wlmail.exe still running(access Task Manager - Control Shift Esc) ?
