I have had the Get next 300 headers unchecked since the beta and Synchronize with Get all Messages for the Live Mail Desktop and the Internet Explorer Newsgroups. The others are set to Get New Messages Only and all were working ok last may, except for loosing the Communities Server error 800ccc0f [msnews.microsoft.com NNTP: 119 No SSL] every few hours.
All the counts of Unread for each subscribed newsgroup were way higher than the ones shown in the status bar. For live.mail.desktop the Unread count was 5089 with the status bar showing 99 message(s), 70 unread. The Reset and Sync seems to work temporarily, with the counts being more reasonable, but if I do a Find a message box entry , it looses the focus on that newsgroup. When I select that newsgroup again or switch newsgroups and switch back it will not display headers from about 5/24 through 6/19 and 6/20 through 7/04. If I sync it again, it appears to be recovering all those posts, but when it finishes it still won't display them.
Now, I just temporarily removed the View by conversation check mark and everything miraculously works fine again!
However, for some weird reason the internetexplorer.general newsgroup isn't showing posts before 6/20. My Message rules for news... should cause it to show the last 90 days! All the other newsgroups seem to be showing 90 days worth of message posts.
