Re: New folder templates? Tools -> Folder Options - 'View' tab -> 'Apply to Folders'
is much more functional than it was in XP. If executed from an 'All Items'
folder, it saves a view template that will only be applied to other folders
that use the 'All Items' template. Ditto for 'Documents', 'Pics & Video',
'Music Icons', and 'Music Details'
Not sure about adding user-defined templates -- would be nice, though.
The machine-wide default layouts appear to be stored under this registry
key:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\FolderTypes"
But I haven't had a chance to play around there much yet.
