Major

Sounds similar to Yahoo mail when you check the block stating your email
server requires secure authentication. Check to make sure that block is not
checked and then try it. I suggest this because I got the same error when I
checked that block using setup for Yahoo mail. After I unckecked it,
everything worked fine. Hope it helps.
