As David said, the UAC prompts can be turned off in the Control Panel. I'd
recommend against doing this for security reasons however.

For anti-virus I'd recommend AVG Free
(http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti.../lng/us/tpl/v5) and also
NOD32 (http://www.eset.com/) if you don't mind spending some money. But it
is the best AV I've come across, far better than whatever Symantec or McAfee
release, and it stays out of your way too.

For a firewall the Windows Firewall will do the job.
