Just let them install DX9.0c. It won't overwrite any files, and if they
don't exist, it adds them. It won't overwrite DX10 files at all, and some
games require some DX9.0c components. This is the simple answer, MS
developers have a much more indepth answer if you need it.
But, it doesn't hurt anything to install DX9.0c.
