This has nothing to do with vista, it's a design of windows mobile/active sync, and is the same in xp as well. basically, it uses outlook to sync your email and contacts and such, if you uncheck the option for syncing whichever of those components it is that uses outlook, it'll sync without giving you any errors. though, most phones with a windows mobile OS, such as the Q for example, usually include a version of outlook on the software cd that comes with the phone. It'll work with any recent version of outlook 2002 or newer, but they usually include that on the software cd for those who dont have outlook.
