I just had a similar problem. It seemed to occur only on sites that had
lots of javascript and ads. Some research indicated that Mcafee and Norton
were sometimes to blame. In my case it was Webroot Spysweeper. It has a
shiled called "Common Ad Sites." Once I turned it off, browsing problem
sites was like lightning.
