latest version of Speed Fan do work with with vista and do not require admin rights to run. also the driver is signed to work.
can read, cpu, case and drive temps if the sensors are available.

You can get the HD temperature via SMART, and several utilities do
just that. The trouble is, they need admin rights to do that, and
Vista does not allow such rights to be conferred to items in the
startup axis. So you have...
- works
- runs automatically
...pick one.

Reading processor and motherboard temperatures is another matter;
there's no standard interface, so you have to address the various
chipsets directly, and that appears to be difficult. I see many tools
that claim to offer that functionality, but fail to.
