It would also be helpful, potentially, to know what hardware you are running
on. As for trying to get the install running faster, most of the install
hangs and slowdowns occur during the phase when Vista is trying to determine
hardware and drivers. You might have better luck with the initial install if
you pull any non-essential PCI cards out of the computer before doing the
install. After the install is complete you can add the cards back in one by
one to hopefully find the one that is causing you grief. Of course, I am
assuming that you are working with a desktop system. You might try
alt-tabbing when it seems hung to see if there are any error messages being
hidden behind the install screeen as well.
