have not used OE in a while, but seem to remember an option that effected the way replies were displayed.
whether in line under the original or just organized by he way you have selected.
might check over the options in xp carefully.

Both are set to get "300" headers at a time - which I think is default value
and more than I want to read

Actually, those are posts within 1-2 weeks, but as just posted, it seems
those only shown in Windows Mail are replies to the original post and could
it be under the original post in OE6, I have no idea.

Anyway, thanks for the kind suggestion and it's just an interesting
observation for which I won't bother to find out the cause.
