Are you using the latest firefox ?
I have Vista Home Basic, did the updates, and no problems at all.
All I think of is there is a possible problem with one of your add ons.
Try unloading them. The loss of your bookmarks is bizarre. It suggests
something is not right, true, but the program is fundamentally sound.
