At 85hz you should have a screen that looks as nice as paper, at least that
has been my experience. I am comparing to a low Hz around 50hz which I find
very annoying as I can see the flicker.
However, I am now using 2 LCD screens of 20 inches each at 1600 x 1200
resolution with one of them using the DVI interface.
Maybe it is the ClearType that is making you think your text is fuzzy? Some
people have noted that they hate ClearType, however I love it.
