Re: File Sharing from XP to Vista Ultimate Let's back up a step.
1. Guest account on the Vista machine
- did you enable or create a guest account as a logon id
or
- did you select a Vista folder(not the public), right click, scroll to properties, select sharing, click on share folder and in the dialog box type in the word Guest(its not present as a selection).
or
- did you access the permissions tab and enable permissions on one of the User\Guest options assigned to your Vista computer's name(computer name is different than logon name)
2. Does the XP Machine have a password for logon?
3. Does the XP machine and Vista machine have the same logon id and password ?
