RE: no audio device available

I had this problem too. I don't know if you are using 64bit or x86, but I
installed a clean version of x86 (despite the fact I have an AMD64). Anyway,
I fixed the problem by uninstalling Vista and reloading XP. Then, instead of
a clean Vista install, I did an upgrade to Vista. Now I have sound, but the
driver for the CPU is funky. Windows sees my chip is 944MB instead of 2GB.
The display flickers at times too, but it all works. YEAH!!!

Overall I am quite pleased with the shape this OS is in for a beta. It's
been worth the wait.
