Well... if you can't see any wireless networks... and you said you checked
your BIOS and wireless IS enabled, have you checked that Network Discovery
is enabled? I can only assume so because of support calls to HP and MS, but
just thought I'd ask...
Also, if you're not already chasing this down in vista.networking_sharing
you should probably post this over there.
