I have the same issue, but here's something to consider. I've previously
saved pictures from the web as .png files and saved them as backgrounds for
years with XP. Now, with Vista, I do your suggested workaround it will not
recognize .png files as "picture files" so maybe that has something to do
with it? When I save the same file as a bitmap it works like you said. What
type of files are you working with, and do you think this might be part of
the problem?
