Thanks, Bob. I followed the link, and I don't think I quite understood
everything nor how to adjust my IP range(s) to solve the problem. In
addition, why would the offending IP range (I assume 192.168.x.x) cause the
direct PPP connection via modem to not allow connection to the Internet
either? Same question for when I connect via Ethernet directly to the cable
modem and get an IP of 72.225.230.x (belonging to Time Warner Cable)?
