If the files are open/in use - Windows may you warn you off. Check that the
files are not in use and try again.

If file permissions are inherited from the parent for these objects, you
could try taking ownership of the container (folder) instead of the file.
After changing ownership of the folder, the files should delete. If not,
repeat taking ownership of the files themselves.

If still having trouble, what version of Vista and where are these files
located? Under your user or another?
