There's actually two different previews you can have. The one called
Preview pane under organize/layout, shows on the far right while the
one called Detail pane shows at the bottom. You can size that one
up/down by grabbing the boundary between the top white portion where
all the files are listed and the pale blue section while holding your
mouse down. This controls both how many file details show and the size
of the thumbnail in the detail pane.
