Ed,
Thanks for the suggestion, did you mean Accessories/Command Prompt? If so
then I get the message 'You must be an administrator running a console
session in order to use the sfc utility', which I don't understand.

Typing 'sfc /scannow' in Accessories/Run does not do anything, not even tell
me that I am doing something wrong.

Any further advice would be welcome.
