Understood; I have a long history with the newsgroups in other forums and
have been through this many times. All I'm saying is that if people
thinking ignoring the trolls is a pipe dream then I've got to wonder why
they think constantly interacting with them is going to help. I'm not
saying you shouldn't give new, off-topic posters the benfit of the doubt and
tell them that they are in the wrong place... I'm saying that once it's
apparent you have a troll the only thing that *might* work is ignoring them.
I'd hate to see a potentially useful group get bogged down in all these
long, pointless threads.
