Check your account settings with these directions:
http://www.postmaster.aol.com/imap/express.html
In particular, note the requirement to have the option
"My server requires authentication" enabled.
In Windows Mail, go to Tools, Accounts, select the imap.aol.com
account, Properties, Servers, and you will see where you can
select that check box.
