Just for kicks, try installing firefox and see if it does the same thing.

If it does the same thing, I guess it's a software problem, windows related.
If it doesn't do the same thing, I guess it's IE.
Try this also, create another account on the machine and see if the same
thing happens.
If it doesn't happen, maybe something is corrupted with your account.
