please let me clearify further:
The blue screen error is a STOP 0x0000007F (0x00000008, 0x80149000,
0x00000000, 0x00000000)
i already went to http://www.symantec.com/windowsvistasupport to apply the
norton add on for its internet security 2007 product, and used its liveupdate
feature to update itself, but it still crashes when listing the contents of
the public folder of the other new HP notebook computer on the network. (The
other notebook also has the latest drivers/service packs installed, and the
folder contains a mixture of english and chinese filenames in 1500 files that
occupies about 3Gb)
I discovered that just turning off the personal firewall is not enough. I
must turn off the 'automatic protection' in the symantec internet security so
that it won't crash into blue screen.
