Vista Upgrade

I currently have XP PRO installed on a system using RAID 1

Because I made some mistake replacing hard drives in the past my primary
boot drive is F: and the system has no C:

I would like to install Vista Ultimate, as a clean install, by installing a
new SATA drive, as C: Then installing Vista on the C: Drive. Then using the
settings and transfer wizard to move info from the F: drive.

At the same time I want to upgrade the CPU and install a new TV tuner card.

I don't care about a dual boot but I would leave the F: Drive intact until
I'm sure everything is OK. Then just use it as an ancillary drive.

Is this scheme something that will work?
