it is possible that without the symantec product and just using windows
firewall, there is no problem
i just talked to a symantec tech support, after following his instructions
to add the other computer's IP address to the trusted site list under the
firewall settings, i can browse the public folder without crashing. so it
seems it is a work around.
however i still feel it is a bad experience to have anything that crashes
windows vista into a blue screen.
