I think what the OP is talking about is the same problem I have. I
dumped Norton and installed Avast, but the system gets heartburn about
it. The protection center claims that there is no AV running, when what
it actually means is that Norton is not running. I wonder if there is a
way to educate the system to the fact that a compatible AV is indeed
running.
