I think I may have discovered the culprit. I removed McAfee Security
Center/Antivirus. It was a trial anyway. There seam to be pauses in the
action but they're not as long. I'll follow up if I prematurely stated the
fix. I'll try to find a lighter-weight virus software that plays nicer with
Vista.
