No, no upgrade is possible. You would have to clean install.

What applications do you run that make you think that more than 3GB
would improve your performance? Most people would see no difference.

Sorry, I don't know and can't help with that, other than to suggest
that with 3GB of RAM, my guess is that Readyboost does nothing for
you.
