Well, I'll start the ball rolling, Steve since I more or less did so in my
last response in your previous thread but this one should attract others as
it has a new subject.

You mention having Norton. We have found that both Norton and McAfee can
interfere with these functions. Try temporarily disabling Norton, if you
have more than the Antivirus, disable that as well and see if you can get
your other applications to update and properly install the updates.

If that doesn't resolve it, it may be a security issue related to UAC, User
Account Control. Try temporarily turning off UAC and then see if you can
get your applications to properly update. Open User Accounts in Control
Panel, click Turn User Account Control on or off and temporarily turn it
off. Then, see if you can get your apps to install the updates.

NOTE: in all instances above, you may need to redownload the updates in
order to test if they will auto install since once on your system, they
often require a manual installation.
