There is no uninstall, your hard drive has to be formatted to remove it.

Per the license, if you have a previous version of Windows (95, 98, ME, 2k)
to qualify for the XP upgrade, yes you can, Vista is not a qualifying
product for the XP upgrade.

A 100% chance, you have to format the hard drive (if using a single
partition) to go from Vista to XP, back up your data to external media
first.

If this machine shipped with your copy of Vista, it is likely OEM and cannot
be installed on any other computer other than the one it shipped with.
