I ran SFC /SCANNOW. The verification process went to 100% and then the
window disappeared. No message was shown. Should I have received a message if
everything was okay or if it had found and fixed a file?

What now? Is there a way to fix Restore without resorting to the Recovery
discs I made when the HP PC was new four months ago?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Frank,

You might try turning System Restore off to delete all restore points, then restart the computer and turn System Restore back on. If your lucky, this will reset it for you.
