if you're using vista neither of these options should b necessary - just
stay in your usual user accounts which are by default restricted
permission based, but with the option to always be able to elevate
priveleges when necessary.
by default in vista the "administrator" account is disabled, and guest
account don't exist, nowt wrong with that so far. This deosn't mean you
can't do administrator things though, the first account created on the
computer behaves like an administrator account, but even an
administrator account on vista runs as a standard account until
administrator access is required.
the thing with vista is its a bit of a cultural leap in using your
windows OS which i think you're not understanding hence its becoming
incredibly frustrating for you.
when a piece of software is requiring administrator access for whatever
reason, you will be prompted to give the software elevated permissions.
same if you access a part of the control panel which a standard account
doesn't by default have permission to use.
microsoft have mave made these changes, called User Account Control, to
help with the security of your computer whilst you go about your day to
day work. half the problem with xp and previous windows was the fact
everyone just ran as administrator which left your computer extremely
vulnerable to all sorts of viruses and various malware.
I've found a few links for you which should help explain things better,
and how you should go about making the most of this extra protection for
your computer:
http://www.maximumpcguides.com/windo...uac-explained/ http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...ntcontrol.mspx http://thepodest.blogs.keznews.com/2...uac-explained/
my advice is to read up a little bit on it, relax and don't panic about
this. after a while it will become second nature to use your pc in this
way.
