RE: AutoPlay Doesn't Work?

Hello,

Thank you for using newsgroup!

From your post, I suggest you check the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
service has been started on the Windows Vista machine. If not, please start
it to test the issue.

If the issue persists, this problem also occurs if the camera uses the
Microsoft Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) standard to transfer pictures to
the computer. Windows Vista and Windows XP SP2 use the Windows Portable
Devices (WPD) standard instead of the WIA standard to import pictures and
videos. The WPD standard supports many devices and device connectivity
options.

To resolve this problem, configure the camera to use the Picture Transfer
Protocol (PTP) standard instead of the WIA standard. For information about
how to configure the camera to use the PTP standard, see the owner's manual
for the camera. Or, visit the camera manufacturer's Web site.

| I connected a camera to a Vista Home Basic machine about 3 weeks ago,
Vista
| installed the camera and launched Autoplay which allowed me to choose
"Import
| Pictures Using Windows".
|
| I connected the same camera today and AutoPlay doesn't launch and the
camera
| appears in Computer as a removable disk. The AutoPlay setting for
Pictures
| is still "Ask Me Every Time" and if I go down in to the removable disk I
can
| view the photos.
|
| I am helping an elderly couple and while I know it is possible to import
| pictures using the Photo Gallery it would be much easier for them if
AutoPlay
| launched.
|
| Has anyone seen this one before and know of a solution?
