Hi,
I am continuously given a weird problem by Desktop Search in Vista. Namely
not all folders are shown under drive C: when trying to select indexed
locations.
When clicking on Modify in the Indexing Options control panel and on the
Show all folders button and saying Yes for UAC prompt asking if I really want
this, the Indexed Locations dialog shows my C: drive but lists only the
folders alphabetically preceding the RRBackups folder (that may belong to
Lenovo's backup software or may be the recycle bin folder of Vista). On
another forum a guy noted a similar problem with WDS 3.1 on XP
(
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/Sho...eID=1&mode=1):
no folders were shown for him which alphabetically ranked behind Recycle Bin.
I do not have a Recycle Bin but RRBackup inevitably starts with an R.
Unfortunately my relevant folders are called Stuff and Work and therefore I
do not have a chance to have anything really important indexed but my mails.
These mentioned folders were created by the same account and are configured
with the very same permissions that were used to create and configure folders
starting with letters that advance R in the alphabet and that are displayed
in the dialog. For example, I could index my Annex folder if I wanted to and
if it were not created only for the sole reason of testing and confirming
this bug.
Looking for any helpful tips,
Gus
