I think the question is not around that portion. He can send using
e-mail, the issue is that the only option in Word 2007 to do that is to
send the Word document as an attachment, whereas the OP is saying that
in previous Word versions you had the option of sending as an attachment
or as putting the contents of the Word document in the body of the
e-mail message.

The former functionality is not easily available in Word 2007 by
default, but you can add it. To add it, follow these steps:

1. Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Word Options.
2. Click Customize, and then in the Choose commands from list, click
All Commands.
3. Click Send to Mail Recipient, and then click Add to add the command
to the Quick Access Toolbar.
