Re: Can't Select Text in Word 2007 / Vista Here I find myself, after googling 'Word 2007 Vista 64 problems' as a result of exactly this problem.
I have Vista ultimate x64 running on an HP notebook.
Other than the usual lack of scanner/printer driver issues, all has worked well for the last few months, then the sudden appearance of this issue, exactly as described. i cannot use the touch pad or a mouse (freshly installed) to highlight or edit text, but can highlight using 'shift + arrows'.
I have run office repair without luck.
I have accepted and installed all automatic windows updates.
I also run a Wacom tablet, which I disconnected a few days ago whle the system was running (a bad idea, I know), but it still works fine and there is no problem with any other program outside of Word.
The only other item of note was that a few days ago (mid November 07), one of the Windows updates was for the Synaptics pointing device drivers.
Sort of unrelated, but also an interesting change - while not supported, I have run itunes with full functionality until the last upgrade, which now does not recognise my CD/DVD drivers and will not allow the comlete install of itunes, so I can no longer burn CDs of my (legitimate) tracks.
I wish I had bought the 32 bit version of Vista, and I still see no resolution on the Word issue.
Houston, (rather Redmond) we have a problem! |
