I thought it might be from my new mouse so I put the old mouse back on last night. However I didn't uninstall the laser one. Still have the flicker.
As for the cords touching each other, I have tried to rearrange them but I have no idea how you keep them from touching. I'm trying though.
Could this have anything to do with an update for Vista?

One other thing that hasn't been covered yet. Is your cell phone by any chance nearby? The erratic flicker that happens only every minute or so could very well be your cell phone.
I get a kind of "blip" on my screen every few hours, along with a chirping sound coming through my speakers, every time my cell phone connects to my cellular provider to updates it's internal clock and date. The cell interfernce last about 2 or 3 seconds.
