You might try disabling the DHCP server VMWare installs with your virtual network. You'd have to use bridged networking (vmnet0) and use your nomal DHCP server (usuall in your router). You can also create an isolated network on vmnet8 and manually set your IP address, but this wouldn't allow external access.
