Here's another suggestion that I've been given:

<< Has the person checked the default setup for the printer in the
Printers panel in Control Panel, Hardware and Sound? Is it set to print
more than one copy?

Years ago some printer drivers would print 4 copies even if you
selected 1 in the application's Print menu if the default for the
Printer was set to 2 copies. I haven't noticed that in a few years, but
maybe the quirk has reared its ugly head again. >>

Note that this is the default setting -- not what you can set when you
just click on Print.
